It is refreshing to encounter a bicycle other than a 21-speed mountain hybrid on the roads around here. While the demanding Scottish topography might encourage the use of a few extra gears, I still fail to see the need for garish paint jobs and decals announcing everything from the number of gears to the brand of handlebar grips fitted. I like bicycles to retain just a little mystery…
Anyway, today I spotted this fine looking specimen of a rod-and-stirrup Raleigh in Racing Green! I won’t say where I spotted it because the owner doesn’t seem to think it needs locked up! The saddle might be a Lepper…
Inspired by this, I’m on the look-out for a large-framed ladies roadster – ideally with 26″ or larger wheels, 3-speed hub, coaster rear brake and front hub dynamo – to refurbish for my significant other. If you have one looking for a new home, anywhere on the East Coast (of Scotland!), drop me a note. I might be interested in a gents roadster too… :c)

Is this the same bike you posted a comment on the OBB about? You mentioned that one was green too, so I was wondering…. If so, I assume you acquired it legitimately?
In any case, would you be interested in contributing to a “Reader Projects” feature on my blog?

Different bike, same model! Although mine is a haggard, hard-living has-been at the moment…and costing £30 to boot!
I’d be delighted to furnish you with some copy…
